Libraries are places of learning, imagination, and possibilities. They open doors into new worlds and bring people of all kinds to together. From the time I was a kid, I loved going to the the library. And even as an adult, the library is one of my favorite places in the world.
This why is it is so amazing:
1. Free Books
Being able to read a book for free is always a win in my book. This is main reason that libraries exist, so that people, no matter how much money they have, can read and enjoy books.
They try to have books that most patrons will enjoy, but often they will buy a book for the library if enough people ask for it.
2. They Bring The Community Together
Libraries are huge cultural and community centers. They host community events and help to promote literacy through reading programs both children and adults.
3. Libraries Have More Than Just Books
Beside having a wide selection of books, most libraries offer a wide selection of movies, TV shows and CDs.
Some libraries have even started offering to other items to check out as well. These include tools, science kits for kids, telescopes, binoculars, and more.
4. They Offer Learning Opportunities And Resources
Learning is important no matter how old you are. this is why many libraries offer classes for all ages.
My local library hosts fun craft and technology classes for both children and teens. They also have classes for adults on everything from writing a resume to gardening to crafting fiction.
Libraries also work with individuals who are currently looking for jobs, retiring, or who want to learn more about finances.
5. If Your Library Doesn’t Have It, You Can Interlibrary Loan It
One of the best parts about the library is, that if your library doesn’t have the book you’re looking for, they can borrow a copy from another area library.
Most of the time, it takes a few weeks for you get the book. Your library may also charge a small fee.
6. It’s Easy To Get A Library Card
There’s a saying that you library card is your ticket to adventure, and it’s true. Unlike a plane ticket, generally only need a government ID and a piece of mail with your name on it to get a library card.
Every library has different requirements for library cards, so double check beforehand.
7. If You Can’t Remember A Book, The Librarian Probably Will
Librarians are masters of finding books based on only small amounts of information. So next time you can’t remember the name of a book, ask the librarian. Give them as may details that you can remember. Most likely, they can find the book in no time.
8. The Library Bookstore and Book Sale
I am all about getting good books without having to take out a loan or sell a kidney. This why I love both the library bookstore and the book sale. You can often find both well-known and oddball titles for reasonable prices. Plus, the money goes to support your local library.
9. Easy E-Book And Audio Book Access
Even if you don’t enjoy reading physical books, many libraries have started partnering with apps like Libby to bring e-books and audiobooks to their patrons.
10. Book Clubs
One of the best parts of being a reader is talking about books with other readers. For this reason, many libraries have started hosting book clubs for patrons. Some are based on age range, some are for a specific genre, and others are just for whoever wants to join.
Final Thoughts
I can’t imagine a world without libraries. It would be a very dull world.

I love libraries. Especially since I can read and watch videos for free! It’s also great to introduce young kids to the joy of reading.
