Did you just finish a heart wrenching book that left you with a bit of a book hangover and you want to do something bookish, but can’t bear to start another book?
Here’s a list of some fun bookish activities to do while you recover.

1. Enter A Giveaway On Goodreads
One of my favorite things about Goodreads is the fact that you can win books from your favorite authors for free. They have options to win both physical and Kindle books.
I’ve won three books from Goodreads giveaways and they’re actually really easy to enter. If you enter a giveaway for a physical book, you will need to provide your mailing address so that the book can be sent to you.
I don’t know much about Kindle giveaways because I’ve never entered one, since I prefer physical books.
2. Read Book Reviews
Looking for your next favorite read? Check out some book reviews. Basically every social media platform has lots of readers of all different genres posting reviews.
My favorite places to find reviews are Booktube, book blogs, and Bookstagram. I also use Goodreads frequently. All of these platforms are full of amazing recommendations to help you find your next book.
3. Scroll Through Bookstagram
Bookstagram is a book nerd’s dream. Full of shelfies, flat-lays, and positivity, it’s a great place to get inspired about reading.
I’ve been on the platform for about a year and I love this community. There are so many amazing creatives on Bookstagram. It’s definitely worth joining.
4. Make Your Own Bookmark
I’m the kind of reader that has to have a bookmark with my current read at all times, if possible.
This why I love the idea of making bookmarks. I’ve seen so many cool ideas from watercolors to laminated flowers.
Pinterest has lots of inspiration for DIY bookmarks.
5. Review Your Last Read
If you haven’t already, write a review of the last book you read. You can make it as short and simple or as long and detailed as you want. Then you can either keep the review to yourself or share it with others on social media.
(If you post on social media, make sure you tell everyone if there’s spoilers in your review.)
6. Practice Your Book Photography
Book photography is still relatively new thing, but it has become extremely popular thanks to social media.
You don’t have to have a fancy camera, elaborate backgrounds, or a photography studio to take great pictures of your books either. I take my pictures with my phone. Usually, the background is a blanket on my bedroom floor.
Use whatever you have around your house to make up your photographs. Then whenever you’re comfortable, share your pictures.
7. Organize Your Bookshelves
Shelf organization is not always a fun task, but it feels so much better to get it done.
Take everything off your shelves, dust, and decide how you want to arrange your books. Get rid of any books you don’t like or probably won’t read. Then arrange the books you’re keeping on your shelves and decorate.
For more on bookshelf organization, check out this post.
8. Paint Or Draw Your Favorite Characters
If you’ve got the artistic touch, try making character art. Paint or draw your favorite characters in whatever style you want.
9. Do A Book Tag
Book tags are so much fun and they are a great way to share the books you love.
The internet is full of amazing book tags with themes like seasons, favorite books, books you hate, reading habits and more. You can share your answers to a book tag on bookish social media or your own blog if you have one.
Here’s a link to the book tags that I’ve done.
10. Write Your Own Story
Everyone has a little bit of storyteller in them, so why not put that creativity to use?
You don’t need anything fancy to write, just a computer or pen and paper. Sit down and let the story flow. Don’t worry about making it sound perfect, just put down what’s in your heart.
If the thought of sitting down to write without a plan terrifies you, try a writing prompt to get yourself started. Pinterest is a great place to find prompts.
Final Thoughts
I hope this helps you get inspired to read.

I love the idea of making my own bookmark! That’s a super fun activity with the kids as well, and I think would encourage them to enjoy reading:)
