I can’t believe it’s almost November! Which means it’s time to pick a few new books for my November TBR.
This month I decided to switch to prompts for my TBR Jar so that I could include more library books in my TBR. (I also made it pink!)
October TBR Update
For the month of October, I chose three books. Here’s how I did with those three:
I finished Debutante Hill and reviewed it. You can find that review here. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The characters were great. I loved the setting.
Unfortunately, I DNF’ed The Air Raid Book Club. I loved the premise but there were too many characters introduced early on and I couldn’t keep track of all of them.
I’m still working on DIY MFA, which is perfect because November 1st starts NaNoWriMo.
My November TBR Picks
A Debut Novel- A Prisoner of Night and Fog By Anne Blankman
In 1930’s Munich, Gretchen Muller has grown up as the poster girl for the Nazi party and their ideals. But when she meets a Jewish reporter, everything she’s ever known begins to crumble.
This is Anne Blankman’s debut from several years ago. Since then she’s published several other books. I absolutely love her writing style. I can’t wait to re-read this book.
A Book Not Set In The U.S.- A Child For The Reich- Andie Newton
During World War II, Anna Dankova’s husband left her and her daughter, Ema, to join the Czech resistance many years ago. But when Ema’s blonde hair and blue eyes cause her to be kidnapped by the Nazis, Anna will do anything to get her back.
A Book Set In The 19th Century- Chenneville- Paulette Jiles
Chenneville follows a Union soldier as he returns home from the Civil War only to find his sister and her family have been murdered. This sends him on a journey of vengeance, but he might find that it costs more than he could imagine.
I picked this one up at the library the other day and it sounds so interesting. I always tend to enjoy reading books set around the Civil War.
A Childhood Favorite- Ramona The Pest- Beverly Cleary
Ramona is officially starting kindergarten. And while doesn’t mean to, she constantly finds herself in trouble. Maybe kindergarten is a little harder than she thought.
This was the first Ramona book I read years ago in elementary school. This book started my lifelong love for Beverly Cleary. I’m excited to read this one again.
Final Thoughts
I can’t wait to get started on these books. I hope I can get them all finished with NaNoWriMo coming up this month. Only time will tell, I guess.
What’s on your TBR this month? Let me know in the comments.
