What would you do if your child was kidnapped? What if the person who kidnapped your child asked you to do something that could threaten national security?
This is the dilemma that Jill Bailey faces and if sees takes one wrong step, she will never see her son again.
Overview
New mother Jill Bailey is a CIA analyst who in charge of reviewing and researching new CIA sources before they are given access to a secure network to pass information to American operatives.
One day, she receives a phone call from and unknown phone number. If she doesn’t approve Falcon, the CIA latest source candidate, she will never see her son again.
Four years later, journalist Alex Charles is investigating a tip that the CIA’s most important source may not be all it seems. This investigation leads her to Jill and plot that could start a war.
Together, they must unravel the secrets that could tear our country apart.
My Thoughts
Because she is a former CIA analyst, Cleveland presents a grounded and realistic story that was breathtaking.
Cleveland excels at spy thrillers with family drama mixed in, and this book is no exception. Jill’s devotion to her family is something that I think many people relate to, but added loyalties to her country bring about a engaging story.
The duo of Alex and Jill was perfectly on point. Their characters worked together so well despite differing personalities and views.
I also loved the pacing of the book. Because it is a thriller, I expected the pace to fairly quick, but it wasn’t so quick as to rush the story.
Final Thoughts and Rating
Overall, this book is fantastic and I would definitely read it again. This may be one of my favorite books so far this year.
My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Would I Recommend This Book: Yes!
