Over the past couple of weeks I’ve seen people all over the bookish community using TBR jars to help them pick their next reads. While I tend to pick my monthly reads based on my mood, I thought it would be fun to give this trend a shot.
My TBR Jar
When most people make up their jars, they write different prompts on slips of paper and then pick book a book based on those prompts. For the month of October, I decided to do things a little differently. I wrote the titles of several books I’ve been meaning to read on post-its and pulled out three at random. (Prompts do sound fun though, so I may try doing prompts in the next few months.)
While I can’t promise that I will finish these books or even write reviews of them, I am going to give them the old college try. (I will still be picking random books to read this month outside of this, don’t worry.)
My Jar Picks For October:
The Air Raid Book Club
This historical novel follows London bookshop owner, Gertie, as she establishes a book club during World War II.
I found this one after reading The Blackout Book Club and I want to read it because they sound so similar.
Debutante Hill
Lois Duncan’s debut novel tells the story of Lynn Chambers a popular high school girl who decides not participate in her town’s debutante tradition.
I bought this one awhile back and I keep meaning to read it, but I haven’t got around to it yet.
DIY MFA
This book is the guide to becoming a writer based on what the author, Gabriela Pereira, learned from getting her Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing.
I’ve wanted to be a writer since middle school. When I first started learning how to write, I spent a lot of time on the DIY MFA website. So, the other day, when I found this book at the library, I decided to grab it.
Final Thoughts
I’m excited to share my TBR jar with you. If you have any suggestions or tips for my jar. Let me know in the comments.
And if you’ve started a TBR jar, tag me on social media.

What a great idea! I could do this for my next book selection. I have a bunch of unread books that I never know which one to choose to read next! One of my friends did a challenge where she wrapped the books and pulled a number out of a jar and each wrapped book was numbered. She did that for like 50 books or some high number of books. So fun!

I’ve seen the wrapping idea before and it looks like so much fun!
