Real life is stranger than fiction, it’s full of wild stories, gut-wrenching heartbreak, and lots of love.
In Can’t Make This Stuff Up blogger, podcaster, and humorist Susannah B. Lewis talks about some stranger than fiction moments with some laughs, tears and a promise that God’s holding it all.
Overview
Genre: Memoir/Self-Help
Blogger and podcaster Susannah B. Lewis knows that life is crazy, complicated and full of laughter. Recalling stories from her life in a hilarious and sometimes heartbreaking way, she shows how God has worked in her life.
From dog named Lady, (who was definitely not one), to parenting adventures, Lewis gives us a few tips for “Finding The Upside to Life’s Downs.”
My Thoughts
This book is, in a word, heartwarming. Though Lewis does discuss in detail hardships such as miscarriage, she gives hope to the reader and shows what God has taught through each stage of life.
Lewis is more inspirational than preachy, which I love. She doesn’t shy away from talking about her own mistakes, but uses them to talk about how we can learn, grow and even find meaning in them.
While this book does have more serious moments, I can’t forget about the humor. Can’t Make This Stuff Up had me laughing so hard more than once. Lewis has an infectious charm that pulls you in like you’re talking to a friend instead of reading a book.
No matter where you are in your faith-walk, this book has something to encourage you to keep you head up and let God work.
