Summer is in full swing which means lots of time spent doing the things we love, including reading.
These books listed are fairly easy and fun reads in variety of genres that will help you achieve those summer reading goals.
1. Written In The Stars- Lois Duncan
This is my favorite collection of short stories. Written by Duncan in her teenage years, they capture a youthfulness that transcends time.
From first dates to family shake ups, she approach each story with honesty and hope.
2. The Last Thing He Told Me- Laura Dave
Hannah has only been married to Owen Michaels for a year when one day, a note is delivered to her in his handwriting. The note reads: “Protect her”. This meaning Owen’s 16 year old daughter.
As federal agents start to appear and her husband’s company becomes front page news, she and Bailey try to piece together what happened. But the more she digs Hannah begins to question if she ever really knew Owen at all.
3. The Help- Kathryn Stockett
The Help follows three women in Mississippi 1962. Aibileen and Minnie are both maids for white families. Skeeter is an independent young woman who dreams of becoming a writer.
Together these three women set out to do something that has never been done before: they are going to tell the stories of the maids who have silenced for so long.
4. Around The World In Eighty Days- Jules Verne
Phileas Fogg makes a bet that he can travel around the world in eighty days. As he and servant Passepartout race against time they find themselves in increasingly dangerous and fantastic situations.
5. The Disappearance Of Sloane Sullivan- Gia Cribbs

6. Anne Of Green Gables- L.M. Montgomery
Aging siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert intend to adopt a boy to help out around there small farm. Instead, they end up a spirited redhead named Anne Shirley.
Though Anne isn’t quite what the Cuthberts asked for, they decide to keep Anne and raise her.
7. Home- Julie Andrews
I grew up watching Julie Andrews’ movies so when I found this memoir in the used bookstore, I had to read it.
In this book, Andrews details her early life and career. And while her life wasn’t always a fairytale like those she’s starred in, she maintains such a poise when telling her story.
8. Verify- Joelle Charbonneau
Set in a not too distant future, the U.S. is a perfect utopian society where paper has been outlawed to eliminate waste. Instead, everyone uses tablets to read, write notes, and even draw.
Meri as grown up in this society believing that government has ushered in an age of prosperity and truth. Everything you see and hear is the truth, lies no longer exist.
But when her mother is mysteriously killed, Meri begins questioning what she’s always thought was the truth. As she searches for answers, the fabric of this perfect society begins to come undone.
